Founded in 1964, Lane Automotive has steadily grown from a small, one man shop in George Lane's garage to a speed equipment industry phenomenon, known the world over as a premier supplier of all the best and latest performance parts and accessories for racers, hot rodders, truck and off-road enthusiasts and, most recently, sport compact enthusiasts. Today, Lane Automotive, through its divisions which include Motor State Distributing, Allstar Performance, Lane Collectables, Exact Detail and the Lane Showroom, caters to the needs of racing and hot rodding enthusiasts from a stunning new complex located in Watervliet, Michigan, at the intersection of Interstate 94 and Michigan 140.

As Lane Automotive's customer base expanded and the business grew to keep pace with that expansion, the need for a wholesale division to supply other speed shops throughout the midwest was recognized. To fulfill that need, Motor State Distributing was established to service speed equipment jobbers with the parts they needed, in a timely manner. It was this division of Lane Automotive that would eventually achieve an impressive status in the mid-1990's as a purveyor of parts and accessories to shops all around the world. Motor State Distributing currently ships parcels every day to customers in 20 countries.

As the speed equipment market and related segments - specifically the hot rodding and die cast collectables markets - became more sophisticated, Lane Automotive spun off two other divisions to fulfill the requirements of these new areas. The Allstar Performance division, well known today as a source of hard-to-find tools and accessories, and the Lane Collectables divison, famous for its Exact Detail Series, both came about as a result of the recognition of "voids" that existed in the market in the early 1990's.

Today, Lane Automotive looks to the future, and the challenges of meeting the needs of the traditional speed equipment market as well as the burgeoning sport compact and sport utility markets. Product lines are continually being added as new parts and accessories are developed and introduced to the public. The 21st century is here...and Lane Automotive is ready!
