2008 Lane Automotive Car Show

Cars and Great Fun. The 20th Annual Lane Automotive Car Show, held on Saturday May 24th, was an outstanding success. Sunny skies, warm temperatures and thousands of car show fans, anxious to celebrate after a long, hard winter, brought about one of the best turnouts ever for the event. A record crowd, estimated at 13,000 people, came out to experience and enjoy 1,000 show cars, an even dozen alcohol and nitro-powered cars in the 8th Annual Noisefest and a full schedule of test cars on the chassis dynamometer.

Show cars were present from as far away as Maryland and spectators were on hand from as far away as California. The Manufacturers' Marketplace, housing over 35 spokespersons representing nearly 160 manufacturers, was once again a huge success.

The Friday night Cruise-In hosted over 400 cars and was kicked off by the second annual Open Header Cruise through downtown Watervliet, and the first ever Nitro Cruise down M-140 and into Lane Drive.

We were very pleased at the turnout, especially in light of soaring gasoline prices. Our hats are off to everyone who came out on Saturday, either as show participants or as spectators.

Open Header Cruise

Open HeadersLoudest Mobile! Imagine several dozen hot rods without benefit of muffled exhausts, rumbling through downtown Watervliet on their way to the Lane Automotive Cruise Night Celebration. Now, imagine these same hot rods doing so without any interference from the local police force. One more picture. How about three nitro dragsters pulling in to join the cruise on its last leg toward the celebration.

It was a super way to start off the Friday night festivities. The winner of the Loudest Mobile in the Open Header Cruise was Rose Cramer in "her baby", a 1950 Ford Custom. She was the hands down winner (excluding the nitro dragsters).

Cruise-In Celebration

Cruise-In We had over 400 cruisers roll into Lane Automotive to show off their rides, listen to live rock and roll music and savor the many tempting taste treats offered by the best food concessions in the area. The Lane Showroom was open until 8:00 pm, the Lane, B&M And Moroso Chassis Dyno was running and the gigantic Manufacturers Marketplace was a hit.
