Product Data Writer

Location: 8300 Lane Drive, Watervliet
Position Type: Full-Time, 1st Shift
Hourly/Salary: Hourly - Competitive pay based on experience

Summary:

The Product Data Writer, by using their own substantial working product knowledge and through research, generates and implements technical descriptions and lists product attributes for new and existing parts for use in marketing/web publications, reports, dealer technical support and departmental sharing of information.

This position requires significant, detailed product knowledge of performance aftermarket automotive parts. The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on experience working on automotive/mechanical projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Lane Automotive handbook.
  • Collect, maintain and implement new and existing product data ensuring information is continuously accurate and complete.
  • Research and write accurate original product attributes and descriptions.
  • Secure data through sources such as vendors/suppliers using catalogs, internet, phone, e-mail, etc.
  • Share data timely among departments and vendors/suppliers observing data security procedures, making sure to report any unsecure conditions.
  • Highlight and alert personnel to the existence of system problems and/or data discrepancies.
  • Cross train to perform other departmental duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Skills:

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of, or passion for working with, the technical aspects of the automotive performance aftermarket is required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Exceptional technical writing/communication skills using various media.

Physical Demands:

The employee is frequently required to reach with arms and hands, stand, twist, bend, walk and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Limited travel may be required.
