For the fourth time, Motor State Distributing in Watervliet, Michigan has been named the SEMA Warehouse Distributor of the Year. The announcement was made at the Thursday evening awards banquet, held as part of the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV. The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show is the largest of its kind and is devoted to showcasing new high performance automotive equipment by bringing together distributors and manufacturers from all over the world.

A great deal of time and consideration goes into deciding who will receive the Warehouse Distributor of the Year Award. First, a candidate must be a SEMA member. Then, each is judged on the following: Customer Support, Industry Service and Warehouse Operations.

Customer Support entails relationships with jobbers and vendors both through sales and support services; publishing and prompt distribution of catalogs, price sheets and merchandising aids like newsletters and sale flyers as well as promotional events like car shows race point funds and training seminars.

Industry Service includes involvement, on the part of a company, in SEMA affairs, membership on committees, and attendance and participation at industry shows, seminars and events.

Warehouse Operations involves maintenance of proper inventory levels, communication and constructive input to suppliers, product knowledge among employees, and willingness to accept product training. Of equal importance are general integrity, fairness and honesty throughout company operations, cooperation with manufacturers and their representatives, electronic distribution of manufacturer's information and financial stability.

Motor State Distributing, counted among the country's largest warehouse distributors of high performance and specialty automotive components, previously won the SEMA Warehouse Distributor of the Year award in 1991, 1993 and 2003.
