Round 6 of the Allstar Performance Michigan Dirt Cup Modified Tour was held Sunday August 21 at Mt. Pleasant (MI) Speedway. The excellent car counts that the first-year series has experienced continued, with 56 Modifieds showing up for this race. The field was whittled down after 5 heats and 3 B-mains, leaving 21 cars for the main event. Several top 10 Dirt Cup points runners were left watching the feature from the pits after failing to crack the field. Stan Dodds jumped out to an early lead in the 50 lap main event followed by Kevin Reeve, Brian Ruhlman and Travis Stemler. As the race progressed, 8th place starter, Aaron Morey, began using the bottom groove to methodically pick his way to the front, eventually taking the lead from Dodds just past the race’s mid point. Morey fought off a late race challenge from Ruhlman to take his first win on the Dirt Cup Tour. Dodds followed in third. The final round of the Dirt Cup Tour will be a $5000-to-win event at Hartford Motor Speedway on October 1st.
